Set up, use, and take down the pole.

Tips

Wearing less clothes can help you grip better, but you should wear what you feel comfortable in.

If you are sliding, wipe down the pole with alcohol or use pole grip.

Spray alcohol on the microfiber cloth, not directly on the pole.

To enhance flexibility, stretch before and after using the pole.

Group work can be a great way to learn new tricks or try out difficult moves.

Pieces of the Pole

Triangular Bag #1, 3 black stage pieces

Triangular Bag #2, 3 black stage pieces with logos

Rectangular Bag, pole podium

Long Carrying Bag, pole pieces

Instructions for Setup

  1. Carry the podium out of the storage area with 1-2 other people.

  2. Double-check that all of the podium places are locked into place. The small silver levers under the base plate should point downwards. The whole podium should be flat and stable on the ground.

  3. Grab the pole bag and find the small black bag. Open it and remove the largest Allen wrench.

  4. Insert the connector into the top of the bottom pole piece. Insert the big Allen wrench into the aligned hole and tighten.

  5. Add the top pole. Tighten.

  6. Double-check that everything feels safe and sturdy.

  7. You can switch into spin mode by using the medium Allen wrench on the bottom holes marked with an X.

    1. Note: one of the bottom holes no longer loosens.

Instructions for Takedown

  1. Switch the pole into static mode by using the medium Allen wrench on the bottom holes marked with an X, if applicable.

  2. Loosen the screws that hold the top pole to the connector with the big Allen wrench. Remove the top pole.

  3. Loosen the connector and remove it, returning it to the pole bag.

  4. The cone-shaped base and bottom pole should always stay attached to the podium.

  5. Strap the poles back into the long carrying bag. With 1-2 people, move the podium back into the storage room.

  6. Place all of the bags and accessories back into the storage room.

    1. Avoid storing any pole bags or any other heavy items directly on the podium.

“The pole feels unstable… what can I do?”

The pole itself has movement. This is normal and part of its design.

You may need to make adjustments if it feels unusually wobbly or if the podium is rocking.

  1. Check that the bottom pole is in the podium. Check that the screws are tight.

  2. Use the adjuster feet (metal knobs in the podium that spin) to even out the base plate (see page 15 of the manual).

  3. Extend the stabilization legs (see page 15 of the manual).

  4. Talk to us! If you are doing any intense tricks or need more stability, we can consider buying sandbags as extra weights on the podium.

  5. The manufacturer of this pole recommends, “a user weight limit of 330 lbs.” Please talk to us if you have any concerns about this.

Notes

If Something Breaks

When Assembling the Pole

  • Do not throw anything away.

    • Keep track of small pieces such as hex keys / Allen wrenches, stage piece rubber end coverings, and the bag of extra screws.

  • Use care to avoid hurting yourself or the Hales Gymnasium floor. The pole pieces are heavy. If you need help, ask a buddy!
